Foodie weekend of fun in Las Vegas

After spending a long weekend in Las Vegas with our foodie friend visiting from Australia, I thought I could share some of the fun and food we experienced on this trip

Where to lunch

Our first lunch stop was for Korean Fried Chicken at a new restaurant which has opened up in the downtown Las Vegas called Flock and Fowl. We sampled the buttermilk fried chicken bao, chicken wings and hainan chicken. The food was cooked well and service was friendly. Afterwards we walked along Fremont Street which is definitely must when visiting, they have free live music stages and a nightly light show above the street.

Second day we had a lunch reservation the famous Hells Kitchen restaurant. On arrival at Hells Kitchen you are greeted by a huge screen with a video of Gordon Ramsey greeting you to his restaurant. As we booked ahead we only had to wait about 5 to 10 minutes before being seated. For lunch the table ordered the short rib grilled cheese sandwich which did not disappoint; full of flavour, the Hells Kitchen burger which was cooked well and very filling. Lastly our friend ordered the 3 course lunch so he could he try the Beef Wellington, the 3 course meal is expensive for what you get a salad, beef wellington and sticky toffee pudding. The salad was overdressed unfortunately, the beef wellington was a lot smaller then expected but cooked well and the dessert was very large but delicious. We also tried the chocolate mousse cake which was nice except for the passionfruit icecream. Last years winner Michelle was walking the floor and we were lucky enough to have a quick chat and photo with her. My recommendation if you do come here definitely make a reservation in advance and be prepared to spend a bit of money.

What you can experience for free

If you are interested in upcoming tv shows or just want somewhere to get away from the crowds, visit Television City at the MGM Grand, you can sign up to be on a free TV research panel where you sit down in a room and get shown a new episode of a pilot TV show and then do a survey at the end providing feedback on what you thought.

As well watching TV shows you can enjoy some cool  fountain shows and gardens. The Bellagio Casino features an indoor garden display which changes every few months and is amazing to see the displays made from all different flowers and plants, also they have the famous Bellagio fountain show at the front of the casino which happens daily every half hour. From here you can continue your walk down the strip to Caesars Palace which features a free Fall of the Atlantis show every hour from 11 am. Another great place to visit is the Flamingo Casino which features a flamingo garden, where you can see the flamingos in a lovely natural pond with other species of birds and fish. In the evening you can enjoy the Volcano Fountain show outside the front of the Mirage which is at 8 pm and 9 pm.

After this being our 4th trip to Las Vegas now, I can definitely say you will find new things to see and do on each trip you do, like we have.
